Europe might be a small continent but it surely offers a lot of things to see and do. Planning to tour Europe during a vacation is a good idea if you are not sure when you’ll manage to plan your next vacation here.
Whether it’s your first visit in Europe or your tenth you should plan to have a base for your travel plans. London is a good option although for many it might look a bit complicated having to travel back and forth from the mainland to the British Isles (but never underestimate the low-cost airlines).
So what should your next stop be on your European vacation after London? Amsterdam is an excellent choice. Plan to travel to Amsterdam during the shoulder season when the prices are lower and the crowds haven’t yet taken over the city. If you don’t mind a bit of hectic weather, you can even plan to travel during early spring or late fall. Advantages: you can bet you can find cheap airfare to Amsterdam ! The downside? You’ll probably start moaning about the weather if you are not lucky and end up in the middle of a rainy week.
Getting from London to Amsterdam is very easy and isn’t expensive at all. Many prefer the train especially if they are not in a hurry and thanks to the low-cost airless, in little over an hour and under £50 you can fly from one city to another.
We all know though that London and Amsterdam aren’t exactly the cheapest places to visit in Europe. Cheap hotels in Amsterdam do exist but you should probably redefine the idea of “cheap” (that’s a good warning for any European capital, though). Therefore, if your vacation plans include visiting museums and spending time in coffee shops, you can easily visit Amsterdam during the colder seasons.
