London’s main airport, Heathrow, gets a brand new terminal at the end of this month when Terminal 5 finally opens. Heathrow has a reputation as being very overcrowded with terminals that are patched up, not user friendly and definitely not designed for the passenger numbers they take.
Terminal 5 will handle all British Airways flights that currently operate from Terminals 1 and 4 and the first flight to make use of it will be one from Hong Kong that lands on 27 March 2008. There’s been a lot of talk in the last few years of the need for an extra runway and possibly a Terminal 6 at Heathrow but the government is walking on egg shells with the green lobby about approving that. Above is a clip from a local London news programme that takes a look inside the new terminal to see what £4.3 billion buys.
