heathrowhoppaLondon’s Heathrow Airport is one of the world’s busiest, and it has more than its fair share of late-night and early morning flights. Getting to or from Heathrow to London proper will take at least an hour, and often closer to two hours, so many people prefer to stay near the airport if their flight is very early or late.

Fortunately, there are quite a few affordable hotels in this area, and in most of them you can leave your room and be in the terminal within 20 minutes or so, even on public transport. Some of these are better for drivers and some are better for those without a car, so have a look at the description next to each name below to sort out which are which. If your budget is high enough for a business-type place, check out our information on hotels near Heathrow Airport.

Hostels near Heathrow Airport

As of now there are no hostels with dorm beds in this area, but the good news is that several of these hotels have double rooms starting around the cost of two hostel beds, and some of them even have deals on singles. Interestingly, many of these are mostly used by business travelers, so if you want to stay on a Friday or Saturday night you can often get great deals. Some of these places include breakfast or Wi-Fi or a free shuttle ride to or from the airport. All the relevant information is summarized below the map.

Heathrow Hotel Lodge

This budget hotel is about as close as you could possibly get to the airport without being on one of the runways. It has all the amenities of a business hotel at a good price, but most importantly they have an 8-passenger shuttle that will pick you up or take you to your terminal for free, although you do have to request the service ahead of time rather than just flagging the van down yourself.

Heathrow House B and B

This isn’t the cheapest hotel on this list, but it does have a few things going for it. It’s one of the most comfortable, and it comes with a free full English breakfast, but the best feature is that it’s right on a bus line so you can be at the airport in about 20 minutes for £2 if you time it right.

A Night Inn

This is a basic 2-star hotel with cheap rooms considering its convenient location. All rooms have ensuite and TV, but the best part is that it’s only one train stop away from Heathrow, so you could leave your room one minute and be in your terminal less than 20 minutes later.

Hayes Heathrow Premier Inn

The Hayes is a business-oriented hotel with all the normal amenities. It’s about 3 miles from Heathrow, which is great if you’ve got a car, especially since there is a free car park here. But it’s not as good for public transport to the terminals, so if you haven’t a car there are better choices. The rates are lowest on weekends here, so it’s quite cheap if that’s when you are passing through.

Premier Inn Heathrow

The Premiere Inn is another business-oriented hotel, and it’s about 2 miles from Heathrow, but unfortunately it’s not close to public transport, and they don’t have free car parking either. Rates are cheap on weekends though, so this is a good choice for some people, especially if other places are full.

Channins Hounslow Hotel

This is a nice 3-star hotel that has cheap single rooms as well as affordable doubles and triples. It’s very close to Heathrow, but not on the public transport lines. It’s close enough that taxis are cheap though, so this is a great place to stay if you’ve got a very early flight the next morning and don’t mind paying a few quid for a short taxi ride.

Shepiston Lodge Heathrow

The Shepiston Lodge is a small business hotel with good rates. Breakfast is included in the room rate, so it can be a good bargain, especially on weekends. It’s very near the more expensive Comfort Inn, so you can take the £3 Hoppa Shuttle bus to or from there and your trip will be quick and cheap.

Golden Lodge

The Golden Lodge is a basic hotel with good rates, and many facilities for low budget travelers so it’s a good choice for backpacker types. It’s about 15 minutes from Heathrow by a direct bus line that costs £2, so it’s a good hotel for those with a very early or very late flights.

Revive Family Lodge

The Revive Family Lodge is a cheap hotel about 2 miles from Heathrow, and it’s got several decent transportation options. You can either do a 10-minute walk to the train station and be at your terminal just a few minutes later, or take a 3-minute walk to where a round-the-clock airport bus service will pick you up. This place also has a TV and Wi-Fi in all rooms, so if that is important to you this is a great choice.

I must admit, I have never had to stay near Heathrow as I’ve never flown from there, it’s always been Gatwick or Stansted. I always try to avoid hotels wherever possible and London serviced apartments are some of the nicest I’ve stayed in. I’m not sure what kind of choice you can expect near Heathrow but I’m sure there must be serviced apartments fairly nearby.
