La Dolce Vita
This week London’s Grand Hall Olympia hosts the four day Italian lifestyle show La Dolce Vita with Viva Italia, an event which highlights Italy’s famous food and wine, fashion and style as well as spotlighting travel to the country and the possibilities in buying property there.
La Dolce Vita runs from 13-16 March and features well over one hundred exhibitor stands along with a programme of entertainment that includes opera, jazz, Italian rock music, talks from food writers and language lessons among other things.

London International Dive Show
The ExCel Centre next to the Royal Victoria Dock hosts the two day London International Dive Show this week from 8-9 March.
This annual show offers over 250 exhibitor stands in its main hall covering all aspects of diving from learning, certification and equipment, through to dive holidays and special items such as underwater cameras, diving leisurewear, books and accessories.

Whisky Live London
Anybody who enjoys a drop of the hard stuff should make their way to the Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster this weekend for Whisky Live London 2008 which runs from 29 February-1 March.
The event offers visitors the chance to sample the best whiskies from around the world with the makers and producers on hand to answer any questions. There are education and entertainment zones explaining more of the history of whisky, Masterclasses given by master distillers and themed areas including Food and Whisky combinations,

U2 3D at the BFI IMAX
U2 have been probably the biggest band in the world for the last two decades and have earned a reputation as one of the must see live acts. They’ve released concert films before such as Rattle and Hum and have a new one out in 2008 which is meant to be excellent.
U2 3D was shot during the group’s Vertigo tour of South America when over 100 hours of footage was shot using the largest number of 3D cameras ever used on a single project.

Vanity Fair Portraits at the National Portrait Gallery
London’s National Portrait Gallery has just opened a new exhibition called Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913-2008. Its an exhibition that features 150 classic portraits that have appeared in the magazine over the last 95 years.
During that period Vanity Fair has commissioned some of the world’s most well known photographers including Man Ray, Cecil Beaton, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino and Herb Ritts to take their shots of subjects

TNT Travel Show
TNT, the listings and information magazine aimed at Aussies, Kiwis and South Africans living in London, are holding their annual TNT Travel Show this week on Saturday 8 March at the New Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.
The show is free, running from 9.30am-6pm, and is a chance to get inspiration and great travel information on places you’d like to visit in 2008. Dozens of exhibitors will be on hand with travel agents, tourist boards, tour operators, accommodation providers, travel equipment suppliers and overland operators all offering advice or deals.

London Australian Film Festival
Next week the 14th London Australian Film Festival starts at the Barbican Centre from 6-16 March. The festival includes the latest Australian feature films, shorts and documentaries, and has a gala opening with a screening of the acclaimed 2007 film set in Queensland called Unfinished Sky by director Peter Duncan.
Other festival films include Bra Boys, the most commercially successfully Australian documentary ever, about a surfing tribe from the south Sydney suburbs and which is narrated by Russell Crowe, Noise a 2007 crime drama

Arabia 2008
Starting this coming Friday London’s Earls Court hosts Arabia 2008 from 29 February-2 March. Its a show for anyone looking to travel, holiday, work or buy property in the Arab world with exhibitors representing countries including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

London Film Premieres in February
London’s experiencing some sunny Spring like weather at the moment, excellent conditions if you fancy getting along to a film premiere and catching the stars as they work the crowds. Here’s a look at some of the films making their UK debut in the next couple of weeks.
11 February - Rambo Twenty years after taking the war to the Soviets in Afghanistan John Rambo is back kicking ass, this time that belonging to the military dictatorship in Burma. Sylvester Stallone obviously feels comfortable taking on the physical roles again that made his name and with the current score Rocky VI - Rambo IV we can probably expect the one man army to get another outing. This premiere is at the Vue Cinema in Leicester Square and Stallone is in town.
