London has always had the reputation of being an expensive city. But with a variety of low cost carriers serving London and plenty of hostels to stay in, museums which can be visited for free , a lot of parks to enjoy nature, isn’t London an affordable destination, after all?
Getting to London
The biggest expense when it comes to any vacation is the plane ticket. Most of us start hunting for that perfect cheap plane ticket months before we plan to travel. Tickets to Europe are easy to …
If you only have a short time and want to maximize your use of it and see the West of England and a small part of Wales, this is a great tour.
Booking and information
Stumbling towards the tube at 7am, you make your way to the Haggis Adventures office near Victoria Station to book in for the tour. The tour starts on a Monday and ends on a Friday, giving you time to spend the weekend in Scotland or even pop over to Dublin, if you choose. Greeted by our enthusiastic driver and guide, Kenny, we all loaded into the bus, 24 of your best friends to be.
Before we get into the nitty gritty of what makes this tour so complete, let me mention that there is a fair amount of country to cover and that means stretches of up to 2 or more hours sitting on the bus with only a potty break in between.
One of the great things about visiting London on a holiday is that it’s rather easy to take a short break from London to visit another city in the region. If you are coming from the States and you book, say, a week in London, it’s actually easy and surprisingly popular to book a cheap flight out of London to Amsterdam or Dublin or Paris, which will add some nice contrast to your trip.
And since London is pretty much the most expensive city in Europe for visitors (and even for locals) …
We are still working on really cool maps for Londonlogue, and those should be coming soon, but we do want to point out that BootsnAll.com, which is the main site in this large travel network, has recently launched a really cool interactive map feature as part of its recent travel guide upgrade.
You can see it by clicking on the Maps tab at the top of the BootsnAll London travel guide page, or you can take this link directly to the interactive London map. On the map you’ll find a big group of London attractions (more coming soon), and clicking on the little star by each will give you more information, including hours and prices for most everything. You can also find http://www.londonlogue.com/hotels/, hostels, and so forth on the map, so you can pinpoint the exact location of where you want to stay in London.

If you own or operate a London budget hotel, Bed & Breakfast, guesthouse, hostel or any other budget accommodation – or if you know someone who does – you (or they) should enter the information into the new worldwide Hostel Directory . This will be a huge worldwide directory of budget accommodations. You shouldn’t worry about spam from this but you should expect some extra bookings.
The site is new but is part of a big travel network, so it should be worth several minutes of your time. Go …
Many different travel sites have special airfare deals to London or special hotel package deals for when you arrive, but in order to be sure you are getting the best deal out there you normally have to search all over the internet. The good news is that BootsnAll has just added a new feature that combines all the best deals from multiple sites onto one page with just the London deals and nothing else.
There are special airfare deals leaving from specific cities, special hotel deals for a certain number of nights, and even …
Finding the cheapest airfare to London can be a challenge, especially when you keep thinking there is an airfare booking website that has a better fare somewhere out there. The folks at BootsnAll wondered whether the different booking sites really offered different prices, or whether they were all the same fares - so they put seven airfare booking sites to the test with six sample itineraries. One of the itineraries included London, so you can get a real feel for how the websites compare when it comes to flights to/from London.

One of the most useful online journey planner’s I’ve come across is one run by the Department of Transport called Transport Direct.
It requires you to enter a start and finish point, the more detailed your information the better i.e. postcode, street addresses, and whether you’re travelling by car or public transport and the intended time of departure. Its comprehensive, covering all the UK and will offer a number of combinations of public transport,
