Adventure running in London
Physically fit and can think on your feet, like a challenge and competition as part of a small team? If so there’s an event in London in May that might suit you. Its called the City Chase and is part of an Urban Adventure series of races that takes place in countries such as the US, Canada, Australia and France, and describes itself as part obstacle course, part scavenger hunt.
The chase consists of two person teams who are given a Clue Sheet with clues to the 20 Chase Points the team must reach on the course around the city,

Cheaper West End theatre tickets
The Society of London Theatre is launching their Get Into London Theatre promotion at midday today, 9 January. This offers cheaper tickets for over 60 West End shows and covers performances between now and 17 March 2007, the tickets available will be priced between £10-£35.
If you’re aged 16-25 there are tickets priced between £10-£15 for musicals, plays, ballets and operas and show’s such as Blue Man Group and Stomp. Matinee performances for anyone over 25 are also priced £15-£25 and a full list of all shows involved in the promotion and the cost of tickets is available of their website.

The Eurostar - London
Eurostar is a great way to get to Paris or Brussels but its got less than a year at its present London location, Waterloo Station.
Waterloo’s one of the biggest railway stations in London, a few hundred yards behind the London Eye on the southern side of the River Thames, but from 14 November 2007 the Eurostar will begin using the redeveloped St Pancras Station, next to Kings Cross as its departure and arrival point in London.

Money in the UK
If you’re visiting the UK money will be important because the exchange rate means you’ll be spending a lot of it. While twelve of the European Union countries have switched over to the Euro, Britain has stuck with the Pound Sterling(£) and will likely do so in the future for political reasons.

UK Visa requirements
Like most nations the UK has different visa rules for nationals of various countries. Citizens of any of the European Union countries need a valid passport but not a visa to enter the UK, and are allowed to live and work here.

Good photo site of London
The London Map is a cool website. What they’ve done is take 360 degree pictures at hundreds of locations within an area of central London which stretches roughly from Kensington Gardens in the west to Tower Bridge in the east, and from Elephant and Castle south of the river to Camden in the north.
You run your mouse over the map and it moves to the area you want.

Public Holidays in the UK
Visitors to London should be aware that the UK has eight statutory public holidays, known as Bank Holidays, because by tradition banks aren’t allowed to open on these days. Most people will get these days off work although shops, restaurants and places of entertainment should all be open but expect public transport to run a reduced Sunday service.

Health care in the UK
Britain has had a National Health Service(NHS) since 1948 and if you’re unfortunate enough to have an accident, emergency treatment is free for everybody. Non-emergency treatment is available to people from the European Union and Commonwealth countries and EU citizens should apply for their European Health Insurance Card which proves your entitlement in any EU country.
