Insert foot in mouth

60925076_4283e198be_m.jpg Primrose Hill resident Gywneth Paltrow has put her foot in it by saying how much she likes living in London. What’s the problem? Well she bad mouthed Americans while doing it, saying among other things ‘I love the English lifestyle, it’s not as capitalistic as America’ and ‘I like living here because I don’t fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilised than the Americans.’ Doh.

I’ve seen a load of British celebrities who’ve made it in the States get a kicking from the tabloids when they’ve run the UK down compared to the US, whether what they said was right or wrong, and I would have thought Gywneth was a bit more clued up when it came to protecting her image to be caught having a dig at the folks back home.

Her initial impressions of London where dirty streets, poor service and cold and depressing weather. Well it was cold and wet today, the streets might be a little cleaner but I’m sure service hasn’t improved dramatically in two years. As for Brits being more intelligent and civilised, check any town centre at chucking out time on a Friday night, you might disagree.
It’ll be interesting to see if what she said gets picked up much in the US and what the reaction will be. The best advice she could get would be from the Robert De Niro character in Goodfellas, ‘never rat on your friends, and always keep your mouth shut.’
