London Bombs

A terrible day for London after yesterday’s mood of celebration for the Olympics.
The bombs on the three tubes and the bus have killed 37 and injured about 700 so far, the kind of scene that all to familiar in places like Israel and Iraq.

The usual Islamic nutcases are claiming responsibility on the web, where do you start with this bunch of cowards, swinging from a rope tied to the nearest lamppost would be a good start.

I’m glad I don’t work in central London because so many people are going to have a nightmare getting home this evening. The underground’s been completely shut down since about 10am along with most of London’s buses and people have been walking miles to the suburbs through gridlocked streets and tv showed travellers dragging their luggage along the hard shoulder of the M4 trying to get to Heathrow.
Business could do everybody a favour by telling employees to take friday off because I can see the commute tomorrow morning being really chaotic and a lot of stress.

London Mayor Ken Livingstone calls the people who set off the bombs today murderers yet he criticizes Israel constantly and defends the Hamas “murderers.” In fact the English press referes to them as militants. Maybe Mr. Livingstone and the BBC will have a better understanding of what Israel is going through, or maybe they are simply antisemetic???

Hang’em high.

I’m writing from Florida’s east coast, but I spent the first 30 years of my life in Texas. My parents as well as my three brothers and their families still live there north of Dallas. I left in 1996. At that time, “W” had been in Austin for a little more than one year.

Austin, Texas is a fantastic town, one of my favorite U.S. cities. The movie ‘Slacker’ will give you a good flavor of what it was like to be a Generation X (X = Extended Adolescent) college student in Texas in the mid-80’s.

In hindsight, 1996 was a good year to leave Dallas, because sometime shortly thereafter is when they started handing out the kool-aid. Everyone I know from Texas is a Bush disciple. It is a bit eerie. Earlier this year I was in the Lone Star State to visit family and friends and was amazed by the number of pictures of “W” I saw posted on refrigerator doors.

I am a respectful U.S. citizen and as such I dutifully pray for our president and troops, but I am not a lemming by any estimation. I think we can do better and I think the swagger and bravado are completely unnecessary, but I do believe we need to deal with terrorists with a firm hand and in this case a firm rope as well.

Hang’em high.

We are all Londoners with you today. The world community will join as one to mourn the loss of life.
Live your life! As someone once said: Don’t let the bastard get you down.
And the bastards aren’t Muslim or Ismalic or generic Middle Eastern. They are a cult of people intent on imposing a New World Order - and to some extent they already have achieved their goals. But they won’t win as long as the Free defend and protect the rights of human beings to live free.

This is just terrible! And what’s worst of all, we cannot escape this gruesome world. All we can do is carry on, smile every day and forget. We can only live by forgetting. Or not forgetting. And not forgiving. Or forgiving. Can anybody tell me, what’s right?
My deepest sympathies for the victims and their relatives and friends. And my condolences. I’m very sorry. (From Germany)

I would like to formally thank the Emergency Services for such a professional and well planned response - people said that we were not ready, they were wrong.

I would also like to say how Proud I am to live in such a Wonderfully culturally diverse country. Diversity is a Strength, not a weekness.

I am proud to be British. If this is the best that ‘they’ can do, then I am Not Affraid. Bring it On. The British WILL Prevail.

SpaceLord, I totally agree with you, 100 people die everyday in Pakistan, Irak, etc and nobody says a word about them, mind you, I dont justify what happened yesterday by saying this, but I think it’s time to think deeply people and analyse facts CAREFULLY, war hasnt been the best option to stop this, has it? I reckon things have got even worse since it started. This war has one clear aim: PETROL…is that so difficult to see??? Many people here, there, everywhere are being murdered while Bush and Blair are making appalling mistakes..untouched by a fence of security guards around them…honestly, all this makes me sick

I live and work in Washington DC and can empathize with the horrible day that the people of London have suffered. I hope and trust that the British people won’t experience the devisive politicking and finger-pointing that have taken over public discourse here in the Sates. Diversity is strength. Hang in there.

I was semi-shocked with the craziness, and worried about some of my friends / relatives who work in Russell Square. Luckily everyone is ok and I ended the day smiling yesterday. However, tonight i was moved to tears when i saw the solidarity and the sheer, awesome human resolve as every one of us Londoners said “fuck u” to the terrorists and went on living our lives the way they wished we couldnt. Kudos London… we love u!

Developed western countries have been providing shelters to the dreaded terrorist leaders and the people funding their operations since long. Every year thousands of innocent people are murdered by these very terrorists in the countries like India. These nations who are now crying when they faced the heat themselves were knowingly letting these bastards grow with the help of money and weapons organised from their soil. Were these leaders who talk of “curbing the global terrorism” sleeping when the sponsors of terrorism were churning out money and technology for these bastard radicals right under their own nose? Likes of Bush and Blair should realize that double standards can not work in the long run - it always comes back to bite you! These leaders won’t realize this because they themselves don’t have to go and fight in the toughest of the terrains and they don’t have to go through the suffering of some dear one’s loss at the hands of these bastard cowards that kill the innocent people - be it in London, Madrid, Karachi or Bombay.

And for all the “western” ppl, stop crying, and make a change, or youll be getting a lot more of bombings on a even grater scale… Whipe your tears, and see history, and see all the damage you have cost, and why terrorist go and plant bomb on your cities. Remember shakespeare? its your own man, he said something about the answer its not in the stars, but in your hearts… look what you have done to the rest of the world, Read ppl like chomsky, ans try to see why all this happened

The British Newspapers pointed out that every terrorist act gives the direction of Pakistan as the originator of the individuals so motivated. Has anyone anlysed the causes?

The guerilla warfare has been taught to the Pakistani-s in hundreds, by the American Vietnam war veterans in the jungles of U.S. due to the friendly policies of successive U.S. Govts. to Pakistan as its staunchest ally, supplying them with all needs of military hardware and training. These trained terrorists were the seeds that sprouted to various outfits in Pakistan, started as fighters for Kashmir freedom, but found everywhere from Bosnia to Chechnya to fight for Muslim extremism.

U.S. again funded the Madrassa-s in Pakistan to train Taliban- meaning trainess taking”Talim”- to fight the Russians in Afghanistan and these Pakistani-s were given training in handling all modern weapons including shoulder fired rockets. Russians were thrown out and the fundamentalism thrived in Afghanistan under the patronage of U.S. who didn’t react when even Bamiyan Buddhist sites were destroyed!! The Frankestein was built by U.S. and it turned against U.S. and Western Countries in due course.

The nuclear technology was stolen by Khan from Eurpoe and U.S., apparently with the knowledge of the Govts. and now pakistan is known to have supplied nuclear technology to North Korea and Iran besides Libya, brazenly advertising by pamphlets for marketing nuclear know how!! U.S. kept mum over the matter!!

Musharraf repeatedly said Bin Laden is perhaps dead, a Diabetic man needing dialysis..etc. almost confirming his death, two years back. The attention of US was diverted to Iraq and Bin Laden capture was relegated to back burners!!

Even today, Pakistan is churning out potential terrorists in thousands from the mdrassa-s and still U.S. is going to supply spying aircrafts besides promised F-16-s to them!!

Is the US sure that the nuclear bomb would not fall in the hands of Bin Laden who is firmly entrenched in Pakistan along with criminals like Dawood Ibrahim and others?

It will be too late for the West to realise their laxity after the Muslims have struck California or London in days to come and even then a passive Blair would call Muslims for “peace”

All British and Americans are War Criminals. They have wifully re-elected war criminals like Bush and Blair, confederate in the worst human right violation in the history of mankind. Over ages US & UK has brought tyranny, sufferings, excrutiating pain to people in different corners of the world. Now with a handful of people bombed, they are crying foul. I only hope this will let them understand the cost of human life. This is natural justice

Who the f*** do you Londoners call coward. You have been numbed. Blair is coward, so is Bush, fenced by commandos and security men they are the safest ones in the world even as they dont mind their contrymens lives put of line. This cowardice. Not the bombers, who give up their lives for a purpose. The purpose is entirely wrong and there should be no two opinions about it. But they are not the least bit cowards.

I just want to say I still feel unsafe using London public transport nearly 2 months later. I know in America many people carry escape masks in case of an emergency. I thought this was a liuttle over the top before but not now. I tracked down a company in London called Safer London.com and bought one. They’re pretty small and now I carry it with me everytime I travel into the city. Over the top maybe but you never know.
