Muggers on the backfoot?

With street crime in London at an all time high you’d think the obvious solution would be to prise more police out of their patrol cars or redeploy part of the battalion that spend their day manning speed traps, but the Met. Police have been far more creative, fixing speakers up lampposts in high risk areas to warn of impending attack.

Brillant, I feel safer already.

‘Please look after your mobile phones…’ Okay when 3 guys grab me and stick a knife into my throat (or back) I won’t have any worries because a speaker has warned me.

Maybe the Gold Coast can benefit from this logic…”watch out surfers this beach is patrolled by dirty great sharks.”

Great. If I’m a mugger I’ll just hang out by the pole. When the speaker delivers its msg, Mr. Victim pats his pocket to make sure his celly is still there. Now I know right where it is! So much faster than searching. Just as effective as the “make sure you have your wallet” signs in the tube.
