The government’s going through a slow death over this foreign prisoner saga. First it came out that just over a thousand foreign nationals in British prisons, who had been recommended for deportation at the end of their sentences, had been let out onto the streets.

Then after the Home Secretary and his people checked the numbers they found that 288 other prisoners had also been released after they were aware of the original problem.

Next they found out that some of these guys were back in prison after committing further crimes such as rape.

The Telegraph reports the Home Office admitting a further 2,500 who should have been deported after serving their sentences were allowed to stay and there was a story in the Sunday Times detailing how immigration officers were withdrawn from their weekly visits to prison to find out who was being released, over a year ago because the government knew that prisoners facing deportation would apply for asylum and Tony Blair had promised to get the asylum figures down.

So just turn a couple of thousand murderers, rapists, paedophiles, drug dealers etc loose on the street because other wise your silly election pledge on asylum numbers won’t be met.

I hope Tony Blair gets to meet the rape victim who’s attacker was supposed to be dumped back in Somalia but instead got a free pass from his boys.
