africa.jpgThis Bank Holiday Monday, 28 May, there’s the first Africa Day celebration in London’s Trafalgar Square. Its a one day free festival looking at the culture of the one million Africans who live in London through art, music, dance, food and crafts.

The festival runs from 12-7pm and features music from Miriam Makeba, Pauline Oduro, the African Jazz All Stars, Seeds of Creation, Madina M’Diaye, Lions of Zululand, Misty N Roots, Congo All Stars, Dele Sosimi and Gbedu.

There’s also a Taste of Africa Food Court with a chance to try dishes such as suya, jollof rice, egusi, fried plaintain, moi moi and kelewele, a Celebrating Africa procession organised by the African Families Foundation and London’s African community organizations, a marketplace with stalls selling arts and crafts and Cafe Africa!.
