Atlantic Worlds at the National Maritime Museum

nmm.jpgThe excellent National Maritime Museum in Greenwich is opening a new permanent gallery this week on 30 November called Atlantic Worlds which looks at the relationship and connections between Britain, America and Africa from 1600-1850 and the impact of these interactions and the British Empire.

The gallery uses paintings, prints, drawings, decorative arts and ethnic artefacts among other things to look at what made Europeans cross the Atlantic and their impact, and focuses on the themes of exploration, trade, war and enslavement.

The National Maritime Museum is one of many top attractions that make Greenwich worth visiting. Its open daily from 10am-5pm and admission is free. The museum is located along Romney Road on the north side of Greenwich Park and is about 400 metres from the Cutty Sark. Map
