Tomorrow 26 January is Australia Day and Australian expats all over London will be out celebrating their country’s national day. It commemorates the founding of the first British settlement in Australia with the building of the penal colony at Sydney Cove in 1788.
London has a whole bunch of pubs and bars with a distinctly Aussie flavour or bias and you can bet they’ll all be up for a good day’s celebration tomorrow especially as its a Saturday. Here’s a link to some of the main watering holes in the city where you can join in the Australia Day atmosphere. If you don’t go to any of those, the streets around the Covent Garden area are bound to see Aussies out in various alcoholic states.
