Central London park re-opening

Over the past year the open area on the south bank of the Thames between Tower Bridge, City Hall and Tooley Street, known as Potters Fields, has been under going a £3million redevelopment.

Designed to have new irrigated lawns, new gardens, an area known as Blossom Square full of flowering cherry trees, a sunken area called The Bowl surrounded by trees, new food outlets, toilets and gates, the Potters Fields site should provide a great location to relax for a while for visitors to Tower Bridge and the South Bank.

To mark the reopening they’ll be three days of events happening at Potters Fields, 17-19 May, featuring among other things carnival classics from 11-piece Edinburgh band Orkestra del Sol who’ll perform at 12pm, 6pm and 8pm on the 18th and 1pm and 3pm on the 19th, a chance to wander through dotMaze a creation that combines fairytale, myth, comedy, art and landscape from group dotComedy, spectacular lighting installations from Lola Muance and Arts Tout Show’s ‘FirePots’ installation will light up the park at dusk.
