Chinese Films in London

bruce1.jpgThere are two seasons of Chinese films on in London this month, the BFI Southbank (British Film Institute) is holding a series called Heroic Grace:The Chinese Martial Arts Film and the Curzon Cinemas has one titled Cinema China.

Heroic Grace covers films from the early 1970s to early 1990s featuring many films from the Shaw Brothers studio by directors such as Zhang Che, Chu Yuan and Lau Kar-Leung. There are some of the Bruce Lee break through movies such as Fist of Fury as well as a host of Hong Kong classics. Cinema China has more of a focus on dramatic Chinese feature films spanning the late 1940s to the 90s.

The BFI Southbank is just on the southside of the Thames near Waterloo Bridge. Cinema China is on at the Curzon Soho on Shaftsbury Avenue, the Curzon Mayfair not far from Green Park Underground and the Renoir cinema near Russell Square. Here are the schedule’s for both.
