Chinese State Circus London shows

9962624_5ccd1cf9b2_m.jpgThe Chinese State Circus starts an eleven day run of performances at Alexandra Palace in North London today. The circus features only human performers and first toured the UK in 1996.

For this tour acrobats and performers who have been selected from seven different Chinese troupes and are joined by members of the Peking Opera and martial arts experts from the Shaolin Wushu school of Kung-Fu. Its a spectacular 2 hour show that presents incredible displays of balance, juggling and ways of using the human body along with characters from the Peking Opera and Chinese Lion dancers.

At Alexandra Palace there are two performances each day, a matinee and an evening show although the times do vary a bit during the run. Tickets for adults are from £10-£27, children £7-£17. Alexandra Palace is on top of a prominent hill in the Wood Green area of North London and has great views of the city. To get there either take a FirstCapitalConnect train from Kings Cross or Moorgate to Alexandra Palace station (you can pick it up at Finsbury Park as well) and walk up the hill to the Palace or take the Underground to Wood Green which is probably a ten minute walk further away.

If you’re taking kids Alexandra Palace also has an Easter Funfair outside for the duration of the Circus visit, which is open from 12noon-8pm daily.
