London’s City Hall has one of its regular weekend openings this week where visitors get to look around parts of the Norman Foster designed building that are usually off limits or being used by London’s elected officials.
On the south bank of the Thames close to Tower Bridge, City Hall was opened for use by the London Assembly in 2002. Among the areas you can get a look at on 3-4 November are the Chamber, used for debates and meetings, the spiral staircase which winds its way through City Hall and provides a view of the Mayor’s Conference Room and the open plan offices, and London’s Living Room on the ninth floor where the outside balcony offers excellent views of Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, a good stretch of the Thames and views over the City of London. The City Hall Open weekend runs from 10am-5pm each day.
