If you have younger kids and would like them to see some traditional street entertainment, get along to Covent Garden this Sunday 30 September for the annual Covent Garden Punch and Judy Festival. Its on from 10am-5pm in the North Piazza of Covent Garden Market and is free to attend.
It’s organized by the Punch and Judy Fellowship, first set up in 1980 to make the public aware of the history and traditions of the the typical Punch and Judy show. Many of the Fellowships members will be performing routines on the day. Covent Garden has a long association with Punch and Judy shows with Samuel Pepy’s writing in his diary about observing one next to St Paul’s Church on the western side of the piazza in 1662. The nearest Tube is Covent Garden. Map
