The run up to Christmas is normally a busy time of gigging and touring for music acts and most groups out on the road will pass through London. Here are some ideas of what’s coming up in the next six or seven weeks that might be worth getting tickets for.
Lily Allen The girl of the moment at The Astoria, Charing Cross Road from 6-7 November, if there are any tickets left.
Bruce Springsteen Two nights at Wembley Arena, the 11-12 November, with his Seeger Sessions Band where he performs versions of American folk classics, meant to be very good.
Dropkick Murphy’s Playing their style of Irish folk/punk and headlining with Less Than Jake, Boston’s finest doing their stuff for one night at the Brixton Academy on November 11. Tickets £18.50.
Scissor Sisters will be camping it up at Wembley Arena for three nights, 24-26 November, the first two are sellouts, tickets still available for the 26th. Jake Shears hitting the high notes and Lily Allen supporting.
The Killers Las Vegas rockers have three nights at the Brixton Academy the 26-28 November touring their second album Sam’s Town.
Christina Aguilera Still trying to come up with the answer to what a girl wants, she’s got two nights at Wembley Arena, 29-30 Novemeber, to figure it out.
Pussycat Dolls Ding-dong, easy on the eye, not bad on the ears, supported on their tour by Rihanna, extra date added to soldout schedule on 1 December at Wembley Arena.
Basement Jaxx Excellent dance music duo that use real instruments in their live performance. One show at Wembley Arena on the 2 December, tickets £25. If you can find where your head’s at get down there.
Pink Doing a single London show at Wembley Arena on December 4th as part of her ‘I’m Not Dead’ tour. Nice cheery title.
Richard Ashcroft Seems a long time since the Verve were the band. A solo Richard Ashcroft has been doing his thing for a while and is at Wembley Arena for one show on the 5th December.
Celtic Tiger Bejesus, it’s himself back again and still kicking up a storm with the Irish dancing. Not a concert but a one off performance of Michael Flatley’s latest offshoot from the Riverdance theme. At Wembley Arena on December 6., tickets £35-42.
Morrissey Almost twenty years after The Smiths split Morrissey’s still at the top of his game with sellout tours and number one albums. A one night gig at Wembley Arena on December 8, tickets £35.
James Morrison Young soulful singer/songwriter who had a big hit recently with You Give Me Something, doing one night at the Kentish Town Forum on December 14, tickets £15.
The Pogues The best of the lot doing two nights at the Brixton Academy, 17-18 December, the first night’s sold out but tickets are still available for the Monday night show, £28.50.
