Let’s see what the ladies have got

tandl.jpgWomen filmmakers take centre stage at the Institute of Contemporary Arts this week in the third annual Birds Eye View Film Festival. The festival includes full length features, short films and documentaries from all around the world including Sweden, France, Korea, Zimbabwe, Senegal and the US.

Among the documentaries are East of Havana which looks at the hip-hop culture growing in Cuba and Shut Up and Sing:Dixie Chicks which follows the country group after they were critical of George Bush. The feature films include In Between Days, a Korean film that won the Sundance special jury prize 2006 and Sherrybaby starring Maggie Gyllenhaal.

The festival runs from 8-14 March and prices vary depending on what’s playing. On the 8th there’s a gala opening introduced by Jerry Hall.
