This July there’s going to be a series of huge concerts, under the title Live Earth:The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis, taking place in seven cities around the world to highlight climate change and they’re all happening on 7 July 2007. The cities staging the shows are London, New York, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Sydney and Tokyo.
The London gig will be at the new Wembley Stadium and among the artists on the lineup are Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, Black Eyed Peas, David Gray, John Legend, the Beastie Boys and Keane plus others. Tickets for the London show cost £55 and are to be allocated by ballot.
Registration for the ballot opens up at noon on Friday 13th April and runs until noon on Monday 16th April on the Live Earth website. If you’re successful in the ballot you’ll be notified on 18 April and have the chance to purchase two tickets.
All the proceeds from the shows will benefit the Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Group, Stop Climate Chaos and other international NGOs.
