The homeless charity Crisis runs a centre called Skylight where homeless people get the oppurtunity to take part in free practical and creative workshops in a whole range of varied activities, from bicycle repair to performing arts they say. Skylight lets homeless people develope old and new skills and interact with the general public.
As part of the Skylight project they’re holding an art exhibition from 26 March to 1 April 2007 at the centre featuring drawings, paintings, prints and other pieces of art work created by the homeless people who come to Skylight and all the work is for sale. Last year the pieces sold made £5,000 for the artists involved.
Crisis Skylight is located on Commercial Street on the eastern side of the City of London, Liverpool Street is the nearest Tube. If you’d like to buy some art to help the homeless the exhibition is on from 5-9pm and admission is free.
