I know the auditions for HP6 are over (I think) but are there any places for a reasonably attractive middle aged lady as an extra in the film (old witch or crone etc) I love the books and would be delighted to be considered for any of the future films.

JK rowling said she only wants british actors/actresses in the film but i suppose if you live in america and were a really good actor who could do a british accent you could try out, but you’d have to fly to england for the auditions, anyone know of any other auditons for harry potter 6 or 7?

However, I read somewhere that the extras for HBP were cast months ago, but I do not know if this is true. Best thing to do is write anyway, search around for the address, and WRITE BUT DO NOT RING them. I think they mostly cast people as extras who are in agencies, but I dont know. I was kind of hoping they would post on this site if there were open auditions for extras, do you think so? Anyway, I’m writing, and if they write back, I will tell you here what they say. And why that??do you believe that all your BRITISH or IRISH actors have the appropriate accent??exept for miss Watson and mr Raddcliff i DON’T think that your GOOD british actors have the proper accent!I am not telling you what to do and on no account i’m telling you How to do your job but i think that you shouldn’t take only british or irish actors.You could simply ask from all the contestants to be able to speak with the british accent!

well i think it would be hard for people in other countries to be in a british film but if they really wanted to they would have to write i have already given the address so ask them!!! just say that you are a big fan and tell them what you want! tell them ur skills and stuff about you thats the only way it will happen unless you have an agent or if theres a open audition!

i’m gonna get an agent. if you want or really absolutly need an agent then search on the computer in your free time and if you find ANY drama or theatre schools round your area, go to the drama lessons and you might get an agent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-plus!!!!!!!!!! if you are in england then you can go to theatre train ( wembley ) or any drama school in hertfordshire/watford you might even end up with the same agent as the hp cast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, they only want british and irish citizens. Second, you have to be in the age range they specified. Lying won’t help.

Hi I went to one of the open auditions for Luna and there was a girl infront of me that was literally a few days under the pass age and they wouldnt let her go in, even if she looked older AND that she had been waiting for ages. They really do check your age so you can try it but the chance are even if you lie you might not get through.. does anyone have any idea when audtions are for the 7th film?

Can an american girl have a chance in HP7? I want to audition for the part of rose weasley or lily evans when harry looks into the pensieve. I am 13 and i wanted to see if i could have a chance. I found out that they started advertising on the UK TV stations about HP7 auditions. There is a website that has a adress that you send a 8×10 picture of yourself and a resume. They will look at the picture and consider you if they think you have a shot. Even if you are from the US, the UK, australlia, or any other country, you have a chance. BUT YOU HAVE TO SPEAK ENGLISH IN A BRITISH ACCENT. They website is http://acting411.blogspot.com/
So if you are from another country and they consider you, you also have to pay for your own plane ticket to get yourself over to the UK to audition.
~REMEMBER~
There will be probably over 1,000,000 people auditioning, so if you dont get the part you want or you dont get a part at all….. dont cry over it. Go and audition for something else or maybe ask the casting director if you could be an extra in the movie. There are plenty oppertunities out there. And also to increase your chances in getting the part or any other part in another movie, get a acting agent (but only if your sure they are reliable and they dont cost too much for you to pay them).

Okay guys, here’s the dead on being an extra:

HP does not just take extras off of the streets. You’ve got to be part of an agency to even be considered, and HP only uses two extras agencies. And even if you applied to the agencies and got accepted, there is no guarantee that you’d be asked to work on HP. And as for the comment on April 8th about being an extra is a good start to being an actress - believe me, it isn’t. As somebody who works as any extra, I will put it bluntly. If you want to be an actress - go to Drama school. Don’t think that being an extra will mean you will be spotted and become the next big thing, because you won’t, trust me.

Also, there are NO auditions currently going on for HP & DH. Yes, there are still castings going on, such as for the Carrows and for Fenrir, but there are no open castings, such as the ones for Lavender Brown, going on at the moment, and looking at the characters in DH, I doubt there will be any for it.

That’s the thing I hate about companies such as Talent Text, they give you false hopes, and take your money whilst they’re at it.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention - CBBC’s Newsround tends to publicize open auditions as and when they appear. They’ve done it for Harry, Ron, Hermione, Cho, Luna, Lavender and Tom Riddle so far. So that would be the best place to keep an eye on, instead of relying on companies that really don’t have any idea what they’re talking about.

Tony - thanks, I just try to tell the truth, as it stops people paying loads of money to join agencies that promise you parts on HP etc. and will never be able to fulfill that promise.

Rachel - as I said in my post on the 14th - there are NO auditions going on at the moment, and there has been no announcement as to when auditions are going to be starting, if indeed they start at all.

Ashleigh - if you want to be an extra, speak to your parents about joining some agencies. It depends on where you live as to which agencies will take you, but the following are all reputable and worth looking at: Casting Collective, Guys and Dolls, Ray Knight, 2020, Mad Dog. These are the main London based agencies.

That said, joining an agency JUST to be in HP is a bit of a waste of time, because there is no guarantee that you’ll be offered HP even if you do join an agency.

Take me for example - I’ve been in the extras business since I was 11. I’m now 22 and despite being with agencies that provide extras for HP, I’ve never been in any of the films. That said, the films I have been in more than make up for it. *grin*

That said, I’ve just been having a nosy at their registration T&C and all want 16+……which is no use for a 13 year old.

Apologies about that, didn’t realise they had an age limit on it.

Claire - I was wondering if you could help me. 17 year old male with no experience (unless you could a church play I did when I was 5.. Not that I remember much of it, mind..), but I have always wanted to be involved in television/film work. I was wondering how I’d approach any extra work or things of the sort. I was thinking drama classes/workshops, but I’m not too knowledgeable about that sort of thing, and you seem to be. I wouldn’t know where to look. I’d feel a right prat, etc etc. Any advise?
