March is quite a busy month for new film openings in London. Among the ones still to have their premieres are these.
March-Amazing Grace A historical drama directed by Michael Apted and starring Albert Finney, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Gambon. Its tells the story of William Wilberforce who led the campaign to end slavery in the British Empire and is being released in the year of the 200th anniversay of that happening. The premiere is at the Curzon Mayfair cinema, Green Park is the nearest Tube.
March-I Want Candy This is a British comedy about two guys from Leatherhead trying to make it in the film business. Its directed by Stephen Surjik (Wayne’s World 2) and doesn’t have any big name stars but does feature Carmen Electra and Mackenzie Crook (The Office, Pirates of the Caribbean). Looks like it could be funny, let’s hope Carmen shows up for the premiere at the Vue Cinema in Leicester Square.
March-Shooter A new thriller from director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, King Arthur) and starring Mark Wahlberg as a marksman framed for trying to kill the president and going after the real assassin. Mark Wahlberg’s normally in pretty good movies so hopefully this one’s worth watching.
March-Mr Bean’s Holiday I’ve never been much of a Mr Bean fan but if you are this second Mr Bean film sees him on holiday in the south of France. Rowan Atkinson and Willem Dafoe are the stars and the premiere is at the Odeon Leicester Square.
March-Wild Hogs Probably the biggest opening of the month, this comedy sees John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy as four middle aged family guys taking a road trip on their motorbikes, also features Ray Liotta. Expect big crowds outside the Odeon Leicester Square for this premiere.
