Marylebone Village Summer Fayre

mv.jpgThe Marylebone Village area is one of the surprises you can find just off central London’s busy and crowded streets. Its centred around Marylebone High Street which runs south from Marylebone and Regent’ Park down to the Bond Street end of Oxford Street. The High Street is very different from the super crowded and chain store lined Oxford Street and is full of small independent shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants with a chilled out atmosphere that feels much more like somewhere such as Hampstead.

This Sunday 17 June the High Street and the streets around it will be closed to traffic for the 4th annual Marylebone Village Summer Fayre. They’ll food and drinks stalls throughout the fayre, BBQ’s, live music at various locations, dancing and fashion shows and classes, activities for kids, a street market and a draw to win a new motorscooter. The Summer Fayre runs from 11am-5pm and is free to attend, proceeds raised are going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The north end of Marylebone High Street is not far from Madame Tussaud’s, but with Baker Street a few blocks west and Oxford Street on the south most visitors to London and a lot of Londoners would stick to the main roads and miss this part of town completely. If you’re around there on the weekend its worth turning off the beaten track a little to see a different side to central London.
