Music greats photographed in London

marley.jpgThe Rockarchive Gallery in Chelsea is holding a short photographic exhibition starting this coming Friday called Memoirs from the Mosh Pit featuring pictures taken by David Corio in London between 1977-87 of some of the biggest names in rock, pop, punk, soul and reggae.

David Corio was born in London and worked as a photographer for the NME, The Face, Timeout and Black Echoes as well as freelancing for The Times and The Daily Telegraph. He’s had his work exhibited at the V&A Museum and the Photographer’s Gallery as well as in the US and Japan. He now lives in New York working for the New York Times among others.

The artists who’s pictures appear in Memoirs from the Mosh Pit include U2, photographed in Cork in 1980, Bob Marley at his last London gig at Crystal Palace also in 1980 and James Brown. The exhibition is on from 11 May-1 June and the Rockarchive Gallery is on the Kings Road in Chelsea, open from 11am-7pm.
