Prince has announced he’s going to play 21 dates in London this summer, the only city he’s performing in this year. He’s going to do seven nights at the new O2 Arena, formerly the Millennium Dome, and then do 14 other shows at various sized venues around town.
He’ll also be varying the playlist, using around 150 songs so no two nights will be the same and getting special guests such as Amy Winehouse to appear with him. The fact that the tickets for the O2 Arena shows will be £31.21, in line with his new album title 3121, is good news for fans who normally get caned when high profile singers or groups play in town.
At his press conference he said, ‘last time I was here a lot of people didn’t get to see me so I’m trying to make it affordable for everybody. That’s why we’re doing the extended stay.’ He added ‘I love London, I’ve had some of my favourite shows here. The wonderful thing about an extended stay is you’ve got a chance to do a whole lot of new material.’
Tickets for the O2 shows on the 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11 and 14 August go on sale this Friday, 11 May at 9am. The number to call is 0871 2304422 or go to www.aeglive.co.uk or www.3121.com.
No doubt he’ll be playing this one from the Purple Rain soundtrack.

If you have never seen Prince live in concert you must. Although I don’t think I would be able to survive seeing him 21 times in one summer.
