There are a number of free events happening in London’s Royal Park’s before the end of April including at 12 noon on 21 April in Hyde Park, a 41 gun salute by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery to celebrate the Queen’s 81st birthday. (They’ll also be a 62 gun salute at 1pm by the Honourable Artillery Company at the Tower of London)
On the same day there’s a Guided Walk by Royal Gardeners in St James’s Park, its on from 1-2pm and you’re advised to reserve a place. On 25 April from 1-2pm there’s a guided walk also in St James’s Park called Lights, Camera, Action which explains the parts of the park that have been used as movie locations.
Also on 25 April in Greenwich Park, behind the National Maritime Museum, is a guided walk called Herald of Spring where the spring colour in the park is explained from 10.30am-noon. There’s no need to reserve a place on this walk, just turn up outside the Park Offices near the Blackheath Gate which is on the south side of Greenwich Park, the opposite end to the Maritime Museum.
On 26 April in Kensington Gardens there’s another free walk called Spring in Kensington Gardens which take a look at the seasonal changes that are taking place at this time of year and how they affect the park and its management. It runs from 2-3.30pm and you do need to reserve a place.
