Royal Parks free events in December

London’s Royal Parks provide the capital with some fantastically well maintained and presented open spaces and parks and throughout the year they offer the public a wide range of events to come along and experience, the majority of which are free. This month there are a number activities taking place, most with a Christmas connection, here is a rundown of what’s on.

12 December - In the Footsteps of the Rich and Famous A free guided walk through St. James’s Park. It takes place between 1pm-2pm and although its free booking a place is essential by calling 020 7930 1793 after 9am.

12 December - Practical Demonstration: Christmas Decorations Greenwich Park holds a demonstration on how to make up Christmas flower arrangements with the opppurtunity to make your own and take them home. It costs £12 and there is a morning session from 10am-12pm and an afternoon one from 1.30pm-3.30pm, call 020 8858 2608 for a place.

13 December - Christmas Through The Ages
A chance to discover some seasonal folklore with this free guided walk through Kensington Gardens taking place between 2pm-3.30pm, call 020 7298 2083 to reserve a spot.

14 December - Christmas Through The Ages A similiar free walk, this one taking place in Hyde Park from 1pm-2.30pm.

26 December - Boxing Day Walk in the Park This free walk in Richmond Park is an excuse to get out of the house and walk off some of the Christmas excess. Get some exercise and learn a bit about the local wildlife by meeting at the Roehampton Gate car park for a 10am start.

29 December - Cheating the Cold A free guided walk around St James’s Park that explains how birds survive in winter and what you can do to help them. Takes place between 1pm-2pm, call 020 7930 1793 for a place.
