The Natural History Museum in London is holding an exhibition of the photographs entered in the 2007 Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, starting next week on 26 October. The event is organised by the Natural History Museum, BBC Wildlife Magazine and sponsored by Shell, and the show will be on until April 2008 featuring the best pictures from the 32,000 that were entered from 78 countries.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year is open to amateur and professional photographers and first prize is given to the photographer judged to have taken the single most striking and memorable of all the entries in the 12 categories and 3 special awards. The winner gets £10,000, presented at an awards ceremony at the National History Museum and all the winning and commended images are also published in a commemorative hardback book.
Tickets to the show cost £7 and the Natural History Museum is open daily from 10am-5.50pm. The museum is on the Cromwell Road in Kensington with South Kensington the nearest Tube. Map
