The ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts) is celebrating Sweden’s position in the forefront of the social and sexual revolutions of the 1960s and 70s by showing a short collection of ground breaking Swedish films from that era under the title Swedish Erotica from 4-7 October.
The screenings are sponsored by Amora, London’s theme park of sex and relationships in the Trocadero Centre, and if you buy a ticket to a Swedish Erotica film you get half price off entry to Amora. Tickets for each film cost £8, here’s the schedule.
4 October - Sweden Heaven and Hell + The Origins of Swedish Sin introductory talk The curators of Swedish Erotica present a guide to how Sweden liberated cinema followed by the film Sweden Heaven and Hell. 7.45pm.
5 + 6 October - Thriller: A Cruel Story (aka They Call Her One Eye) 1974 film which was one of Quentin Tarantino’s main inspirations for Kill Bill. Starts 11.15pm.
5 +6 October - I Am Curious Drama-Documentary about a rebellious young woman in 1960s Sweden. 8.30pm and 1.30pm.
6 October - Anita + Exposed Two films from the early 70s with a Q&A afterwards with actress Christina Lindberg. Starts at 6.30pm.
7 October - Language of Love A film that led to demonstrations in London on its release because of the real sex scenes. Also has music by Bjorn and Benny from ABBA and is the movie Travis Bickle takes his date to see in Taxi Driver. Starts 6.45pm.
7 October - Molly Swedish erotic film from 1976 based on a novel by Daniel Defoe. 8.45pm.
