The Birds of War

chain.jpgThe Birds of War, subtitled Hawks, Doves and illegal Eagles, describes itself as ‘an exhibition of contemporary, visual artwork to mark the fourth anniversary of the Iraq invasion.’ Its organised by artist Tanya Tier in association with the Stop The War Coalition and CND, so is coming from a certain political view point, but what ever your politics its hard to argue that the Iraq war has been anything but a complete disaster.

This exhibition features work by six British and Iraqi artists and uses a mixture of paintings and installations that reflect their interpretations of the present situation in Iraq. Tanya Tier is an artist born and raised in Jordan who came to the UK in the late 1960s.

The Birds of War is on at the Candid Arts Trust in the Finsbury area of North London not far from Kings Cross, its very close to Angel Underground station. The exhibition runs from 11-17 April and the gallery is open 10am-5pm Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm Sat-Sun, admission is free.
