The London Gathering

gathering.jpgFans of all things Scottish will be heading to Inner Temple Gardens in the City of London this weekend for The London Gathering, two days celebrating the best of Scotland.

Its on from 11am-6pm on the 8-9 September and Inner Temple Gardens will have a number of marquees and stages set up. Hardeep Singh Kohli and Clare Grogan will host singers and bands on the Main Stage including Eddi Reader, Dougie Maclean, Sandi Thom, Laura McGhee, Beecake, Goldie & Grant, Journey Box and Clan Wallace.

They’ll be a Pipers and Highland Dancing area, a Highland Games arena, the Whisky and Literature Marquee where current Scottish authors will be holding Q&A sessions, a Culinary marquee with Scottish chefs and food writers Nick Nairn, Shirley Spear, Michael Smith, Sue Lawrence and Mary Contini. There’s also the Ceilidh Tent with The Invercauld Scottish Dance Band and Kafoozalum Country Dance Band playing traditional Scottish music and reels.

Unlike many events in London this one is not free, tickets cost a pricey £35 a day or £60 weekend ticket, children under 15 are free. If you’re interested in going Inner Temple Gardens are along the Embankment on the north side of the Thames between Blackfriars and Waterloo bridges. The nearest Underground stations are Temple and Blackfriars. Map
