The NFL(National Football League) has confirmed the details of the regular season game to be played in London in the 2007 season. Its going to be at the new Wembley on Sunday 28 October kicking off at 6pm GMT(1pm ET), and will be classed as a home game for the Miami Dolphins against the New York Giants.
I think it’ll be a big success and they’ll have no problem of selling out Wembley, that time of year should be perfect weather for football in London and its week 8 of the NFL season so both teams should have something to play for and be up for it. The Mayor of London was in Miami for the build up to yesterday’s Super Bowl and hopes that thousands of US fans will make it to London.
I’m sure loads will but looking at the sports calendar, the Breeders Cup takes place on 27 October at Monmouth Park, New Jersey and that weekend, 27-28, could be right in the middle of the World Series, so if the New York teams or the Florida Marlins are involved fans may not travel. When ever tickets are released I’m going to try and get one.
The NFL, the teams and the London authorities all seem enthusiastic about the game coming over, but maybe Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga got caught up in the moment when he said (talking about England), ‘We have a great following there, including fan clubs throughout the country’. Very low profile fan clubs H.
