Tin Pan Alley Festival 2007

tpafest.jpgDenmark Street, just off the Tottenham Court Road end of Charing Cross Road, has for decades been associated with music and musicians and is known as Britain’s Tin Pan Alley, with music publishers and specialist shops selling instruments still dominating the street today. Down the years acts like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and the Sex Pistols have recorded songs in Denmark Street basements and Elton John wrote Your Song there.

The latest generation of up and coming bands get to make their mark there when the fourth annual Tin Pan Alley Festival takes place this Sunday 15 July. From 11am-9pm the free festival showcases a variety of bands to show the talent that’s still attracted to the area. Bands lined up to play so far include Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Future Of The Left, Help She Can’t Swim, We Start Fires, Bolt Action Five, Sunset Cinema Club, People’s Revolutionary Choir, 35 Seconds and Herra Hidro.

The closest Tube to Denmark Street is Tottenahm Court Road on the Central Line. Map
