Knights jousting on horseback is an image that’s synonymous with England in the Middle Ages. This weekend you can get a glimpse of the past at the Tower of London when they hold their Tournament at The Tower, a recreation of a medieval jousting tournament.
Its on from 1-2 September and knights on horseback will compete in lance, clubbing and tilting events. The tournament will be set in 1467 where the Queen’s brother Anthony Lord Scales will take on Anthony, the Bastard of Burgundy in a clash of skill and Chivalry.
The jousting events will take place at 11.45am, 2.45pm and 4.30pm each day in the Tower of London’s moat area and last around 40 minutes. Entry is included in the price of a regular ticket to the Tower although you’ll probably be able to see some action from the street if you don’t plan to visity the Tower itself.
The Tower of London is located on the banks of the River Thames next to Tower Bridge. Tower Hill is the nearest Tubes station. Map
