London’s Hyde Park has a group of unusual vistors at the moment, a herd of Indian elephants. Unfortunately these aren’t the real thing but 13 life size models made of willow that have been placed in the park to draw attention to the loss of the Indian elephants natural habitat.
Trunks meet Trunks is organized by the charity elephant family, the Royal Parks Foundation and The World Land Trust, and the willow elephant herd made up of 3 tuskers, 4 cows and 6 calves will be on show in Hyde Park until 18 September with the aim of raising £10,000 to help protect a corridor between two elephant habitat areas as part of a conservation project in Kerala, India.
They were made by the company Topiary Art Design in Suffolk and are positioned in the area around the southeast side of The Serpentine.
