The Daily Telegraph Adventure Travel Show The 12th edition of this travel show takes place at Olympia in west London from the 12-14 January with over 250 travel companies having stands and displays to help you plan that trip of a lifetime. Its open from 10am-6pm Friday-Sunday, tickets cost £8. Kensington Olympia is the nearest Tube.

Russian Winter Festival 2007 This is the third year of an event organized by the Mayor’s of London and Moscow(old communist party colleagues no doubt) that celebrates the Russian ‘Old New Year’, marking the New Year on the pre-revolution Tsarist calendar. It takes place in Trafalgar Square from 11am-6.30pm on 13 January and features Russian music, singing and dancing and hopefully a lot of quality vodka.

The Observer Hodge Photographic Award One of Europe’s most prestigious competitions for young photographers ends its show featuring photos from the 2006 winners on 19 January. The exhibition is on at The Newsroom, The Guardian and Observer newspapers archive and visitor centre on Farringdon Road, in the Clerkenwell area of London. Its open from 10am-5pm Mon-Fri, 12-4pm Sat, admission is free.

London International Mime Festival First held in 1977, the festival runs from 12-28 January at various locations around London including the Barbican, the ICA, the South Bank Centre and the Royal Opera House featuring circus acts, physical performances, puppetry and live art by acts from around the world. Cirque du Soleil Alegria The hugely popular modern circus featuring amazing aerial acts, acrobatics, jugglers, sets and costumes is performing its show at the Royal Albert Hall from 5 January-11 February. Tickets cost from £16-£52 and evening performances normally start at 7.45pm, matinees are around 3pm.
