Halloween If hanging around the graveyard waiting for the dead to wake is what you did last year why not take a night time cruise down the tunnels of the Camden canal and see what’s moving down there, alternatively London Walks are offering four guided walks around the city for the 31 October, Ghosts of the Old City leaving at 7.30pm from St Paul’s, Haunted London goes from the Monument at 7pm, Apparitions, Alleyways & Ale kicksoff at 8pm from the Embankment and Ghosts, Gaslight & Guinness begins at 7.15 from Holborn tube.


MPH 06 2-5 November, see some of the guys from Top Gear show off the hottest cars around with stunts, 3D sequences and commentary. Starts Thurs 1-10pm, Fri 11am-9.30pm, Sat 1am-9pm, Sun 10am-7.30pm, at Earl’s Court nearest tube Earl’s Court, District Line, standard ticket £27.

Language Show From the 3-5 November at Olympia in west London, a show for anyone interested in learning or teaching a language, 120 exhibitors plus seminars and presentations. On Fri 3rd Nov 10am–7pm, Sat 4th Nov 10am–6pm, Sun 5th Nov 10am–5pm, nearest tube Kensington Olympia.

London to Brighton Veteran Car Rally 5 November, watch up to 500 pre-1905 cars start from Hyde Park and head down to Westminster before crossing the river and picking up the A23 to Brighton. If you want to see some of these old machines in action you need to be around Hyde Park by about 7.30 am

Spirit of Christmas Fair House and Garden’s winter event covering everything from food and wine to decorations and presents for the festive season. On at London’s Olympia from the 1-5 November, the show is on Wed-Sat 10am-6pm Sun 10-5pm, tickets £17 on the day, £15 advance.

Guy Fawkes Day Remember, remember the 5th of November, Catholic Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Protestant Parliament and they’ve been burning his effigy ever since. Events all over London for the weekend.

England v New Zealand England’s rugby team take on the best in the world at Twickenham on Sunday afternoon, 5 November. If the All Blacks play to their potential it’ll be a long afternoon for the England players.

I did a ‘Jack The Ripper walk’ 4 years ago and it was great. The guy that led the tour was an actor, very atmospheric.
