The London Nativity A free nightly performance of medieval Nativity plays done in a modern style, on at 6.30pm 20-23 December, 2.30pm 24 December, at the Scoop, the circular stepped area next to the London Assembly building on the south bank of the River Thames. There are seating places for just under 800 and its first come, first serve. Its open air and by the water so wear some warm clothing.
Borough Market Christmas Opening A wholesale food market that has a retail market on Fridays and Saturdays and has added three extra days for the public in the run up to Christmas. Come and get your food where London’s top restaurants buy their ingredients. Open 20-22 December 9am-6pm, 23 December 8am-6pm, 24 December 9am-3pm. On the south side of the Thames down from London Bridge, nearest tubes London Bridge or Borough.
Design Museum Late Night Christmas Shopping Located at the end of Butlers Wharf and Shad Thames, if you have to Christmas shop for someone who’s keen to be cool and contemporary, why not have a look around the Design Museum’s shop with their range of products by some of the world’s top designers. They’re holding two special late night opening on the 19-20 December staying open until 9pm. Entry to the shop is free and there’s reduced entry to the museum itself.
World Darts Championship If its Christmas it must be the madhouse that is the PDC Darts World Championship. If you’ve never seen it, its a unique ’sporting’ event. Take an 80s football crowd, squeeze about 3000 of them into the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, near the Dartford Crossing east of London, give them as much drink as they want and let the 48 best dart players in the world play for hundreds of thousands of pounds on stage. There’s nothing sophisticated about it but it can be compelling viewing. The final’s on 1 January, tickets are available for some of this weeks opening rounds price £15, but are all sold out for the final week. If you do go get your drinking boots on.

Colin O’Brien: Retrospective Images An exhibition of pictures by the London photgrapher Colin O’Brien who has spent 50 years taking pictures of ordinary people on the streets of London. Its on at the.gallery@oxo on the ground floor of the OXO Tower building along the south bank of the Thames near Gabriels Wharf. On from 11am-6pm daily until 1 January, closed 25-26 December.
