Australian Film Festival 2007 On at the Barbican from 15-25 March, this festival is in its 13th year and will feature the latest from Australian cinema including 25 feature films, 8 documentaries and a series of short films and all the winners of the 2006 Australian Film Institute Awards will be shown. Some films will also be followed by talks with actors and directors from those films.
Viva España Show A three day show at in Olympia London featuring everything Spanish. There’s food and wine with cooking demonstrations by leading chefs in the Cookery Theatre and wine seminars by wine critic Charles Metcalfe. There are areas covering lifestyle and culture, travel and tourism and property in Spain. The show is on from 16-18 March from 10am-6pm (5pm-Sun). Tickets cost £12 on the door and £8 advance.
MOVE IT Dance London 2007 A dance exhibition that covers just about every kind of dance including ballet, ballroom, contemporary, tap, jazz, hip hop, African and Latin. The main stage will have over 100 live performances, they’ll be 138 dance classes, 20 seminars and masterclasses and 140 exhibitors offering dance shoes, dancewear, dance products, dance expertise and advice. Its on at the Olympia National Hall from 16-18 March. The show is open from 10am-7pm Fri-Sat (5pm Sun) and tickets are £12 adults, £9 children (advance £8.50 and £6).
The Affordable Art Fair 2007 Affordable in that everything is in the £50-£3,000 price range. If you have some spare cash to spend there’s a huge range of paintings, drawings, original prints, photography and sculpture to look at. There are also free printmaking workshops and there’s a wine bar, cafe and children’s creche available. The fair is on in Battersea Park from 15-18 March and is open from 11am-6pm, tickets are £10.
Hands Up for Freedom A free exhibition in the foyer of the Museum of London as part of the bicentenary of the abolition of the British slave trade, Hands Up for Freedom is created with Anti-Slavery International to look at human trafficking around the world, how and why it happens. The exhibition runs from 16 March-7 May and the Museum of London is at London Wall in the City of London, the nearest Tubes are Barbican and St Paul’s.
