London’s National Portrait Gallery has just opened a new exhibition called Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913-2008. Its an exhibition that features 150 classic portraits that have appeared in the magazine over the last 95 years.
During that period Vanity Fair has commissioned some of the world’s most well known photographers including Man Ray, Cecil Beaton, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino and Herb Ritts to take their shots of subjects ranging from Claude Monet, Amelia Earhart, Jesse Owens, Charlie Chaplin and Greta Garbo to Madonna and Tom Cruise.
Vanity Fair Portraits runs from 14 February-26 May 2008 and there’s a programme of talks, activities and photographic workshops running alongside the exhibition. Tickets for the show cost £10 and its open daily from 10am-6pm. The National Portrait Gallery is on the northeast corner of Trafalgar Square with Leicester Square or Charing Cross being the nearest Tube station. Map
