wembley.jpgThe new Wembley Stadium which opened earlier this year has started its stadium tours today, 13 November. The stadium cost almost £800million to build and seats 90,000. Its where England will play their home football internationals and where the FA Cup Final will be annually held. Its already played host to a number of concerts this summer and recently a regular season NFL game.

The tours last 90 minutes and take in the changing rooms, players warm-up zone, VIP reception area, dugouts, post-match interview area, press conference room, treatment rooms, the Bobby Moore Statue and a walk up the 107 steps to the Royal Box and a chance to lift a cup. Tours begin at 9.30 a.m. daily and leave every fifteen minutes. Tickets cost £15 adults, £8 children and over 60s.

Two questions:

1. Why didn’t they put a sliding roof on this thing seeing as England gets a lot of rain?

2. Can you believe that ‘Barclays banker’ Platini saying he doesn’t back England for the World Cup?

The way the budget for Wembley spiralled out of control and the time delays on completion, its a good thing they didn’t plan a sliding roof.

Platini obviously owes some payback to the countries that voted him into his present job and also want to bid for 2018. I think England’s got the stadiums, transport, organization etc for a great World Cup.
