This Saturday, 1 December, three of London’s top streets for shopping are going to be pedestrianized for the day, the first real big shopping weekend in the run up to Christmas.
Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street are having West End VIP Day with the VIP standing for Very Important Pedestrians who’ll get the chance to wander along the streets without having to have eyes in the back of their heads to avoid being flattened by a bus or car.
The roads will be closed to vehicles from 10.30am-8pm and the day will feature live street entertainment along with freebies, competitions and discounts from many of the stores on these three streets. The High School Musical tour bus will also be up and down Oxford Street with five performances at the Disney Store near the junction of Vere Street, Oxford Street and New Bond Street.
A lot of people think Oxford Street and Regent Street should be permanently be pedestrianized, saturday is the chance to see what it would be like.
