If you’re coming to London this week be aware that there’s a three day strike by workers on the London Underground which started last night. As of this morning there is no service on the Bakerloo, Circle, Central, District, East London, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Victoria and Waterloo & City Lines.
There’s a partial service on the Piccadilly Line although its suspended between Hyde Park Corner and Northfields/Uxbridge. The Piccadilly Line goes to Heathrow terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4 so this suspension will have an effect on anyone trying to get into or through London from the airport.
Transport for London(TfL) advises that valid London Underground tickets will be accepted for travel on the Heathrow Connect service between Heathrow and Central London, and local London Buses services. They will not be valid on the Heathrow Express. Valid London Underground tickets will also be accepted for travel on c2c, Chiltern Railways, First Great Western, One Railway, Silverlink and SouthEastern mainline rail services, the Docklands Light Railway and London Buses. Only Travelcards valid for the zones travelled through will be accepted for travel on First Capital Connect, Southern and South West Trains rail services.
There is a normal service on the Jubilee and Northern Lines which basically run north-south through London. The strike’s set to last until 6pm on Thursday 6 September although TfL says services will not return to normal until Friday morning. As you’d imagine shutting done the Underground network in a city like London is causing a lot of problems for travellers, check out the TfL website for the latest strike update information if you’re trying to plan a journey on public transport.
