Barbarians v Springboks at Twickenham

springboks.jpgThe Rugby World Cup reaches the semi-final stage this weekend with England playing France and South Africa up against Argentina. South Africa are the favourites to win the whole thing and have looked the best team in the competition so far.

If they do win the World Cup fans in London will get an early look at the new world champions because they’re playing a game against the Barbarians at Twickenham in West London on 1 December kicking off at 3pm. Tickets are now on sale priced from £12.50-£60.

The Barbarians are probably one of the most unique teams in all of world sport, founded in 1890, they have no home ground or stadium and play at the invitation of other teams or national rubgy unions. The players who play for them invited to do so and come from all around the world for the few games the Barbarians play each year. They’re given the famous black and white hooped shirt and the honour of becoming a member of the Barbarians. Winning the game is not the be all and end all for the Baa-baas, the ethos is playing attacking adventurous rugby with flair and passion, and their games are usually open and exciting. Get along if you want to see some great players on both sides and maybe the Boks showing off the Webb Ellis trophy.
