With Wimbledon another washout today tennis fans in the UK at least had a little bit of good news when the ATP, the governing body of the men’s professional tennis circuit, announced that the end of season Masters Cup featuring the top 8 singles and doubles players on the men’s tour will be held in London from 2009.
It will be renamed the ATP World Tour Final and the new AEG O2 Arena in Greenwich, formerly the Millenium Dome, will host the event. Shanghai currently holds the Masters Cup and London will take over for four years. The 20,000 seat O2 will have a hard court installed, its also going to be used as a venue during the 2012 Olympics. Wonder what the chances of a British player being involved are?
