The autumn always seems to produce some of the best sport of the year and this weekend is a big one in London. All the London teams in the Premiership if you include Watford are playing in the capital this weekend.
On Saturday, Fulham host Everton, Charlton Manchester City and Watford Middlesbrough. On Sunday there are two London derbies, Arsenal play at West Ham at 1.30pm and at 4pm Tottenham play Chelsea at White Hart Lane.
Harlequins are also at home to Northampton in the Guinness Premiership rugby on Saturday afternoon, but the big one has to be at Twickenham, 3.30pm, Sunday afternoon when the England rugby team face the New Zealand All Blacks.
When the All Blacks line up after the national anthems and perform the Haka on the halfway line, it has and always will be one of the great sights of world sport. It’s unique, I can’t think of another sport where one team goes through this intense ritual, getting totally fired up and the opponents are pretty much honour bound to stand and face it.
It’s just a great spectacle and I don’t agree with the people who say New Zealand shouldn’t be able to do it. It’s part of their culture, part of rugby’s and one reason why I’ll be tuning in to Twickenham on Sunday afternoon.
