ten.jpgTaking a leaf out of cricket’s book and their crash-bang Twenty20 form of the game, this Saturday 15 September the O2 Arena in Greenwich stages the Betfair Turbo Tennis tournament, a souped up version of the game you see at Wimbledon.

This one day event with a $100,000 first prize involves 30 minute matches with strict time limits between points, games and matches, and forfeits for delaying play. There are no net cords and a game goes to sudden death if it reaches deuce. Like the Twenty20 cricket they’ll be loud music played when someone hits a good shot.

Players taking part in Turbo Tennis this weekend include Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, Tim Henman, Pat Cash, James Blake and Goran Ivanisevic. Doors open at 1.30pm with play starting at 2.30pm. The event is scheduled to finish at 6.30pm. Tickets cost between £10-£60, available from the O2 website or Ticketmaster.
