High Five?

By BootsnAll | April 22nd, 2003 | 2 Comments »

Football players are always trying to come up with new ways to celebrate goals.
Wonder if Pascal Nouma’s hand down the shorts will catch on, and did he shake everyone’s hand at the final whistle.

'Come on my diamonds!'

How one coach can fail to motivate a team, while another brought in straight afterwards can turn the same set of players into winners is one of the mysteries of sport.
I’d have to research the results, but my guess is that Uday Hussein falls into the first group. He certainly had a unique man-management style.

Arsenal 2-2 Man.United

By BootsnAll | April 16th, 2003 | 4 Comments »

My nerves were well on edge for the start of this one. Even a couple of pints didn’t help when United went in front, the championship is coming to the end and this was the make or break game.
Arsenal should have had the title wrapped up by now but silly defensive mistakes have thrown points [...]

England 2-0 Turkey

By BootsnAll | April 2nd, 2003 | Comments Off

England have just come through a tough Euro 2004 qualifer against Turkey.
Turkey, who finished third in the World Cup, were on top in the first half but England stepped it up a gear in the second, got more of a grip on the midfield and just about deserved the win.
17 year old Wayne Rooney started [...]

Big game in a small place

By BootsnAll | March 28th, 2003 | 2 Comments »

England play in Liechtenstein tomorrow evening in a Euro 2004 qualifer. Lets hope this tiny country stuck between Switzerland and Austria with only 33,000 people is ready for the travelling England support.
Officially England have only 900 tickets for the game but three to four thousand fans are expectd to turn up, so the potential for [...]

A 9.9 for that one Jimmy

By BootsnAll | March 25th, 2003 | 2 Comments »

The invisible sniper was out again tonight, this time at Stamford Bridge. The victim, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Jimmy was running towards the Arsenal penalty area alongside Pascal Cygan when he was hit, one second he was galloping then without warning his head went back, his arms went up and his legs were cut from under him.
Happy [...]

Arsenal bow out

By BootsnAll | March 19th, 2003 | Comments Off

While the war is the main thing on people’s minds there’s still the distraction of the football.
Just come back from watching Arsenal lose their last Champions League group game to Valencia 2-1 in Spain, and therefore go out of this season’s competition.
Arsenal only needed a draw to go through to the quarter final but Valencia [...]

Arriverderci Totti

Disappointing night for Arsenal, 1-1 with Roma in the Champions League. Could have really done with a win to ensure they get out of their group.
Now Arsenal have one game left in Valencia next Wednesday, which they can’t lose or they’re out, a draw will be good enough.
They started the game well tonight, Vieira scoring [...]

Gotta do it all again

By BootsnAll | March 8th, 2003 | 2 Comments »

Just watched Arsenal and Chelsea draw 2-2 in the FA Cup quarter-final tonight.
Chelsea took the lead but Arsenal should really have put them away, Thierry Henry missed a penalty then scored a great goal to put the Gunner’s 2-1 up.
They had loads of the play but didn’t really hit top gear, probably thinking too much [...]

Good weekend for the Gunners

By BootsnAll | February 23rd, 2003 | Comments Off

A good weekend for the Gunners as far as the Premiership goes. A 5-1 stroll away at Manchester City yesterday after watching Man. United struggle for a point at Bolton. Chelsea found a way to lose at home to Blackburn, Brad Friedel had another outstanding game for Rovers. Liverpool were poor again, losing to [...]
